How to Deal with Diaper Rashes in Babies

Diaper rashes are common in infants. You may be very careful but it may happens to your baby because diaper rashes are not only related with use of diaper, there are some more causes of it.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is edible oil and is best known for its anti fungal properties. Use organic coconut oil for your baby.

Olive Oil has Anti-Inflammatory properties. Mix one teaspoon of olive oil with equal quantity of water and apply the emulsion on baby’s bottom 2-3 times a day.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which works against the acids which caused diaper rashes and protects baby’s skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties and alkaline in the vinegar neutralizes the baby’s skin. Dilute 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in half cup of water and dab on baby’s bottom. Do this 2-3 times in a day.

Soak baby’s bottom in oatmeal bath for 10-15 minutes which will soothe baby’s skin and heal the rashes.

Diaper Rash Cream

Cloth Diapers

Use cloth diaper as much as possible because disposable diaper contains chemicals which is not good for your baby’s skin whereas cloth diaper is made of cotton and linen fabric.

Take care of following points:

    • Using diaper is not only single cause for diaper rashes.
    • Every baby’s skin is differ and treatment may also vary from baby to baby.
    • Do not use home remedies if baby have bad rashes. Visit to Pediatrician to consult which ointments and antibiotics can be used to heal the rashes.
    • Check diaper often. Change immediately if the diaper is full or soiled.
    • Wash and pat dry diaper area at every diaper change.
    • Use plain water to clean baby’s bottom. If you use baby wipes, use only mild one and should be paraben and alcohol free.
    • Wash your hands before changing diaper and during rashes take extra care so that bacteria in the rashes do not spread to other parts of baby’s body.
    • Leave your baby without diaper for more time.
    • Do not panic. With proper care, rashes go away within 2-3 days.
